It makes me happy that Pokemon is still loved for all generations to come. I was always teased as a child for Pokemon. I was called, “That Pokemon kid.”. I was teased to tears by family and ex=friends alike. I was just there playing LeafGreen (my first) or Diamond (when it came out). I even tried to con my ex-friends into liking Pokemon. Later, they snapped out of my “spell” and moved on. I was there still liking Pokemon. My family made fun of me for liking said game. They said “You BETTER grow out of this.” “Pokemon is stupid.” …etc. I had Pokemon figures, and drew Pokemon all the time. My family knew me as the “Pokemon”. Not Pokemon fan. Just, The Pokemon.
Of course, I didn’t leave Pokemon. I couldn’t. Those Pokemon I caught were my friends. Especially that one Houndour I caught in Platinum. He’s the Pikachu to my Ash. His name is Radio, a Houndoom now, and he comes with me to every Pokemon game, so he’ll be in the Sun/Moon region as well. (Team Poke’Love Sun/Moon?)
Anyway, I was alone for a long while. Even when I met people online that liked Pokemon, I felt alone in the real world. Going grade after grade being teased about Pokemon. But I didn’t stop. I didn’t want to stop. Pokemon was always an “achieve your dreams” kinda game. Even the theme songs of every Generation in the anime always said, “Your friends will be right by you.”, “Believe in yourself.”.
I got Pokemon Black when it came out (despite the backlash on it, I loved it.). I remember playing the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series (and i loved Super, by the way). I played Pokemon Channel as a kid all the time, maybe because I liked watching Pikachu be adorable. I played Pokemon games whenever they came out.
I was glad that Pokemon was still going on. I knew they would keep making the games and making new Seasons of the anime (that I think is still good to this day. ) if the fans lived on. I was going to be that 0.1% of fans that loves Pokemon for all gens.
Seeing that 20th Anniversary video just melted my heart. It showed ALL the games being loved by all ages.It is showing that this franchise is livng on and the fandom loves the games. It makes me happy that Pokemon will always touch player’s hearts, And I can say that this series changed my life. Pokemon gave me a sense of adventure and I can’t wait for the new adventures that await in Sun and Moon.
